THE SHIMLA TRIP 2K !!
After our Ist mid-semester exams, following the tradition of AIIMS, we all left for our much awaited Shimla trip. We numbered more than forty young hearts. Shimla is the time when you explore the natural beauty (and human too of course!) along with your friends in a way different from ever before. This is the time when you plan to use all your "fundas" given by seniors to impress girls, make your mark & to create good image in everyone's mind n' heart..
Our trip full of fun and frolic
began on 19th Oct.2000,when we left around four o'clock early in the morning for New Delhi
railway station. Even these odd hours of the day could not stop our enthusiasm and
we all went rocking to the station making the roads of Delhi resound
with "humma humma". On reaching the station it seemed
like "Himalayan Queen" was waiting for our arrival. We reached Kalka by 3:00pm from where another
joyful ride was
about to begin. We boarded a toy train to reach Shimla. On the
way we were captivated by the beautiful scenery which we admired
wholeheartedly. At last, we reached "Paharo ki Rani
-Shimla!". As everyone was too tired we searched for our
hotel "Flora" which had been pre-booked. In the night,
some of us went for a stroll on the mall...the thing that I enjoyed the
most.
20th Oct 2K:Late morning we started
for "Jakhu temple" which is situated 3km uphill from
the mall. Due to steep height, we had to rest several times to
reach there. On reaching the temple, other than Lord
Hanuman we were blessed by
the darshan of monkeys, monkeys and ...monkeys! They were
present in mind-boggling numbers! Some snatched away our specs, others fiddled with our cameras and still others just
hung over us. Next, we decided to go to "Taradevi" a
temple of one of those nine devis whose "darshan" are
considered sacrosanct according to Hindu religion. It was 8:00 in
the night when we reached there (thanks to our duracell torches!), so we could hardly see anything and came back.
21st Oct 2K:The destination for today was "Chadwick falls". I kept on wondering what a waterfall has to do with neutrons that it got such a name! The trekking to the Chadwick was the most exciting, full of fun. On reaching the spot, although the falls didn't match our expectations but still we enjoyed them. The stereo was on its full...the girls rested...and the boys bathed. Cameras clicked like paparazzi on the prowl. On the way back to Flora we visited our AIIMS guest house at Summer Hill; 'twas too good, warm and cosy we wished we stayed in it. But it was closed because of some renovation work.

22nd Oct.2K:Most of us left for "Tattapani"- the spot famous for the hot sulphur springs. It was bathing time for boys once again (and staring time for girls once again...!!...jus' jokin') .The hot water of the springs was as refreshing as the almost freezing water of the Sutlej.
23rd Oct 2k:Today it was a rest day... still a few of us left for Kufri,10kms uphill from Shimla. Although we didn't see any snow there but the temple, yaks, zoo, Potato Research Centre...and ultrafine horsedung granules flying in the air...made the day!

24th Oct 2k:We longed to stay more in
Shimla but time restrictions brought our
trip to an end. Playing cards, the never ending antakshari and the blaring
stereo were a good timepass. We all left for our AIIMS...(with loads of memories
of Shimla in our hearts) and reached by 11pm in
the institute.
