Meet the CR :-)

Let's meet the CR and know about him in detail...an interview technique was followed.

Q. Hi..Vivek! Tell us about your personal interests, your hobbies, likes and dislikes in detail.

Vivek: My hobbies include reading newspaper and others can be known from my profile...I suppose! The field of my personal interest is international politics.. (sounds shrewd enough, huh?). I get absorbed in the news broadcasts of BBC, Voice of America & radio DW which I listen at my home. I have no special likes and dislikes and I try to adjust as much as I can with regard to a given situation & this appears to me as both a strong point as well as a weak point depending on the situation. One of my recently analysed weak point is that I have become very short tempered which I never was...and I am trying to overcome it.

Q. We would like to know about your academic life...including the awards u won, the scholarships u got, etc.

Vivek: I remember that was 21st May 1988 when I joined Std.II in a school in my home town. In that school I stood third. Then I joined Navodaya Vidyalaya School on 17th Aug.1992 in class VI. There they used to give grades instead of marks. Lemme tell u a well kept secret..once I got Grade C in Oriya (my third language) in class IX. I was school topper in Xth and XIIth with 84% & 89.6% respectively. Hey..hold on I remembered another one now..I scored 37 out of 100 in Maths in XIth. From 1988 till 1999 I was among the toppers. I received a jolt in 1999 when I failed to clear the entrance test for admission in the Aakash Institute. I also got 0.1% certificate for Maths in Xth & I was 2nd in the Bihar region of Navodayas in XIIth.

Q. What are your future plans,ur ambitions and what are the ideals, rules u follow in your life..?

Vivek: My elder brother, who is in Delhi University and preparing for civil services exams is my ideal. Most of the things which I do, I actually try to follow him. I will never deny what my parents & my other family members will ask me to do...be it right or wrong! That's my devotion for the family!! My future plan in one line is - to go back to my home town after achieving a reasonable knowledge of medicine...and of course other parts of the plan are yet to be structured. I'm not ambitious and satisfied with whatever I get without harming others.

Q. In your opinion, what should be the qualities and duties of a good class representative (CR)?

Vivek: A good CR should represent the class at every front. He/She should be able to interact & communicate freely and quickly with every member of the class, to draw conclusion out of their views and to take firm decisions in favour of the class. He/She should be able to bridge the gap between the two opinions which always arise in a discussion and should maintain the unity of the class. He/She should respect every class member's feelings. He/She should be able to put the matter to the faculty and to persuade them towards his class' concerns.

Q. If you are given the power to bring about a change in student life of an AIIMSonian (academic, cultural, sport,etc.)..Which single change would you like to implemented first and why ?

Vivek: In the present scenario, there is a need to introduce some changes in the academic life of an AIIMSonian (not because we are having problems with our PG reservation or the results in the PG entrance exams are not up to the mark!!). We should look at the factors which really differentiate us from a peripheral graduate...be it books, faculty, facilities or anything else...we should try to exploit these resources to their maximum, so that we become a graduate different from a peripheral one. Missing classes, bunking practicals and postings don't lift us in their comparison. Obviously, till now our system considers wise enough to take decisions which are good for us. So, why not behave in equal wise manner to fulfil this objective. AIIMS objective is not that it's graduates should top the PG entrance...to become an AIIMSonian (which I consider as being different from a peripheral graduate) you really need not do that...

Q. Hey..I fully agree to what u have said...I think, we've talked a lot about serious matters, let's move to the lighter side...tell us What's ur attitude towards girls of your age (in general?!)

Vivek: First of all, I do respect them as the members of opposite sex, equal to us in every aspect & I expect the same from them as well. I maintain a restrictive behaviour towards them in terms of talking, gossiping and spending time with them. I don't look into their eyes while talking to them because I fear that I will be attracted towards them --as the "eyes of a girl are infamous for this" (hey..hey gals! watch out this thing next time time u talk 2 him..). As anybody else I try to behave in the most decent way with them.(attention gals! come to the boys hostel and take a look...how "decent" he is...?) I give priority to one's thoughts & opinions, manners, behaviour and decency over one's figure, face or what she wears! Anyway, since they form the other half of the population...u have to interact with them.

Q. Your friendly message to the classmates would be...

Vivek: Class is the biggest asset. You should always be ready to compromise for the sake of 'the class'. 'The class' is not merely sitting together in the LT & attending the lectures. There should be an emotional bonding element as well. So, my dear friends, let the strength of unity prevail...we have just four years to spend together...

Q.Okay the final ques. ur "dil chahta hai"...what ???

Vivek: "kabhi na beete PULSE ke saat din!"

Thanks a lot Vivek!
